Keep in mind that proper attire is essential, and garments such as sleeveless or low-cut clothing, shorts above the knee, miniskirts, and hats are not allowed. So, dress modestly, covering your shoulders and knees. Additionally, maintaining decorum extends to personal items and visible signs, including tattoos, that may be deemed offensive to Catholic morality, the Catholic religion, and common decency.
Avoid touching or leaning against artworks and maintain a moderate volume level, especially within the Sistine Chapel, as it is a place of worship.

Photography is generally allowed within the Vatican Museums (except for the Sistine Chapel), but there are some restrictions. Flash photography is prohibited in certain areas, and some exhibits may have specific photography guidelines.

I definitely recommend escorted entrance! The price is so reasonable, service is friendly and easy to find, and you’re escorted passed the hundreds in queue to go straight through the entrance. Once in, the friendly guide explains the process (the entrance area is like a full airport security check) and then helps you navigate the maze to the areas you’re most interested in.
